Useful Pocket Tools

A: Rescue knife.

B: Pinched cable cutters.

C: Pliers.

These can be grabbed without looking by feeling the knots, even with extrication gloves on. Cutting vehicle battery power almost always prevents undeployed airbags from going off in responders' or victims' faces. They also work for breaking glass as would a Halligan, and can help a firefighter self-extricate from structure snags and wire entanglement.

If a car battery is 50 feet away in the woods - it happens - we’re going to also use a whole different set of extremely powerful extrication tools.
